Hello again, IWBies
The cost of living is now officially Germans’ number one fear, ahead of war and climate change. If you’ve seen what public transport will cost in 2027, or tried to check out a Shein or Temu basket lately, you already get it. On top of that there are 11 changes affecting immigrants this month and reports of racism and sexism from Oktoberfest staff.
The good news is that your week doesn’t have to be all paperwork and budgets. There’s a free tax bootcamp, the Female Filmmakers Festival, a whole ramen festival and Berlin’s pan-Asian culture festival. There’s something for every mood, and plenty of reasons to get out of the flat before the dark evenings arrive.
Every week, a small team of immigrant women puts this newsletter together on our own time. We do it because a safe, reliable space for women like us shouldn’t be a luxury. If IWB has ever made life in Berlin feel a little lighter, even 1€ helps keep it going.
Grab a cosy jumper and a warm drink and enjoy your weekly dose of Berlin.
With love,
Sabrina & your IWB team 💖
